PBIS Expectations

Positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) is a school-wide systems approach aimed at establishing a positive student culture and individualized behavior supports necessary to create a safe and effective learning environment for all students.

PBIS covers a sweeping set of principles that can help schools guide students toward positive behavior and improved discipline.  Rather than focusing on changing the student, PBIS encourages students to change themselves by guiding them with an environmental change and teaching consequences.

 

Cub Cash: Students in grades K-3 will receive Cub Cash to acknowledge good behavior. Pre-K students will participate in classroom acknowledgment systems through conscious discipline. Students will be allowed to redeem their Cub Cash daily in the classroom for an opportunity to choose items from the PAWsome box. Teachers will select two Cub Cash tickets each afternoon for those students to choose an item from the PAWsome box.

 

Student of the Month: Each class will determine one student to represent their class as student of the month. Students will receive a certificate to recognize their accomplishments. Student of the month will be determined by monthly criteria. 

 

Student of the Week: Each class will determine one student to represent their class as student of the week. Students will receive a certificate and a snack in a sack coupon and bag to recognize their accomplishment. The student name and information sheet will be hung in the hall for other students to view.  This is a way for all students to be recognized for something positive throughout the year.   

 

Quarterly PBIS Events: Quarterly PBIS events will be held after each nine weeks. Each event will be 30 minutes and follow a PBIS Event Schedule for that day. Students who meet “full criteria” have earned 0 major office referrals within the nine weeks participate for the full 30 minutes. Students who meet “partial criteria” have earned 1-3 major office referrals within the nine weeks. Students who have earned 4+ major office referrals for the nine weeks will meet with the school counselor during the event time

 

Monthly Student Perfect Attendance: Students who have perfect attendance for the month with no tardies or check-outs will receive a yard sign to be taken home.
