Transistion For Employment and Community Involvement
Our Special Education Department is excited to share that we have begun collaborating with local businesses to provide meaningful employment experiences and on-the-job training opportunities through internships for our students with significant support needs. We are especially proud to partner with Terrebonne ARC, where students are gaining valuable hands-on experience at the Cajun Confections Bakery and the Cedar Chest Thrift Store while also earning high school credit. These partnerships not only allow students to build practical workplace skills but also foster independence, confidence, and a smoother transition into the world of employment after graduation. This initiative reflects our department’s commitment to empowering students by connecting education to real-world opportunities and preparing them for successful futures.
Our Special Education Department is thrilled to partner with Terrebonne General Health System to expand transition and workforce experiences for our students. Through this collaboration, students will have the chance to engage in hands-on learning within the Food Services Department of the local healthcare facility. This experience will allow them to develop essential job skills such as teamwork, time management, and customer service while contributing in a professional environment. By integrating classroom learning with authentic workplace training, this partnership provides students with meaningful preparation for future employment and helps cultivate independence, responsibility, and readiness for life beyond high school.
