MMS's Computer Lab opened for students on November 30, 1998. Since that time, 30 networked Compaq computers have been used to teach students in grades 5, 6, 7, & 8. Students became familiar with Windows95 operating system , using the Internet to find specific information, and much more...

All 652 students were scheduled in the computer lab on a rotating basis throughout the school year.

All Grades

Compass Curriculum

  • LEAP preparation (8th only)
  • JCAT - Josten's Comprehensive Assessment Test - the software tested and then prescribed a learning path individualized for each student.

5th & 6th grade

Type to Learn

  • Typing program geared toward middle schoolers.

  • Correlated to classroom curriculum.

Microsoft Excel

  • Made graphs and charts to use in a research report for Reading class.

8th Grade

Compass Curriculum

  • Correlated to classroom curriculum

Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Made "All About Me" presentations

Students also used computers for encyclopedia research on topics assigned by classroom teachers.

Faculty and Staff of MMS learned to use Microsoft Outlook for their e-mail.
