4-H

What is 4-H?
4-H is the youth education branch of the Cooperative Extension Service, a program of the United States Department of Agriculture. Each state and each parish/county has access to a County Extension office for both youth and adult programs.

The organization's symbol is a four-leaf clover with the letter H in white or gold on each leaf. The four H's stand for the development of youth through Head, Heart, Hands, and Health. These words are also part of the 4-H pledge spoken at many of the organization's activities:

bullet

"I pledge my Head to clearer thinking,

bullet

my Heart to greater loyalty,

bullet

my Hands to larger service,

bullet

and my Health to better living,

bullet

for my club, my community,

bullet

my country, and my world."
