EJHS PHILOSOPHY

The faculty and staff of Evergreen Junior High School strive to provide opportunity for students to improve grade-level skills regardless of previous academic performance, family background, socioeconomic status, race or gender. The school shares with the stakeholders the responsibility for the student’s development into a productive, educated, and contributing member of society. Five years ago Evergreen 7th
and 8th grade students posted the lowest standardized test
scores in the parish. Since
that time there has been an ongoing effort to improve the curriculum and
student achievement. Technology has been a major component of Evergreen school
improvement plans and a major reason for our success. Student achievement continues to be a major consideration in
planning for technology. Over the past three years, three computer labs have been established. A Jostens Lab in room 303 is primarily concerned with preparing students for the LEAP and Iowa tests. A keyboarding lab in room 309 is used to teach students keyboarding skills. The library/media center is scheduled by classes to do Internet research. Placing computers into individual classrooms and training teachers to integrate technology into the curriculum is our next priority.
