“We must be the change We wish to see in the world.” M. Gandhi
These are the words of Mahatma Gandhi and what inspired the Be the Change Movement across the world. If you believe in this message, please consider being part of the Be the Change Movement at Evergreen Junior High. You can find information about Be the Change and Challenge Day at: www.ChallengeDay.org
Challenge Day is a one day program that allows everyone involved to communicate effectively, be honest and realize that we all have the same hopes, desires, and fears. It also teaches that people can still have differences, but get along with one another. The school board has already approved this program for EJH and HLB. We will be the first in the parish to experience the benefits of Challenge Day. The best part of this program is that members from the community (the Houma Rotary Club) are willing to help us be the change we wish to see at EJH and keep the fire alive after we have reached our goals. Yes, Challenge Day is only one day, but the effects of it will be life changing.
Since Challenge Day and the Be the Change Movement are new for all of us, we will begin with a meeting to get ideas of how to start changing Evergreen. Input from faculty, staff, administration, students, parents, and community members is welcomed. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, August 27 at 5:30 PM in the school cafeteria.
If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Amedee at Evergreen. I look forward to working with all who are interested in this project.
